A landmark building of intriguing architecture, it draws numerous visitors to Altea, in its own right and also because of its extensive cultural offering.

Numerous performances are staged here, covering dance, theatre, first-rate international music and the finest musicals and operas of all kinds and from all corners of the globe.

Its auditorium has played host to such star names as Rostropovich, Lluis Llach, the singer Julio Iglesias, Josep Carreras and many other leading lights.

It also features major exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography, often including such significant figures as Zurbarán, Sorolla and Zuloaga, as well as students of the nearby University of Fine Art in Altea.

The Culture Centre and Auditorium also boasts huge picture windows providing a form of lookout offering extensive views of the Sierra de Bernia uplands and the activity of the University of Fine Art.
