Program for Ecoaltea 2026 in the gardens of Palau and University of Fine Arts of Altea.
Handicrafts, natural health and ecology go hand in hand throughout the month of October in the charming town of Altea. This fair started out in 1995 in Alfaz del Pi, but in 2008 it moved to Altea where it now provides a moment to breathe and a great way to meet people: EcoAltea
The fair is designed as a meeting point for artisans, visitors and local people, all of whom have the opportunity of attending lectures, workshops and activities related with health, ecological agriculture, ethical banking, bioconstruction, solidarity economies, natural education or nutrition, among other values involving sustainability and social awareness.
This is all accompanied by a festive and carefree atmosphere in which there is no lack of art, music and dance, all free of charge and open to every age group.
Meeting between nature and crafts in Altea.
EcoAltea is a solidarity initiative that started from someone thinking it would be a good idea if people were aware of the need for a sustainable world, one in which human beings live respecting and at peace with one another, in accordance with the values that the event's poster eschews. A tremendous amount of events are organized that take over and pack the streets of the town.
"Batucadas", storytelling and dramatizations of classic stories by authors such as the Brothers Grimm, harp and drum concerts, puppet shows with stories of the “Abuela Ciruela and the Ardilla Pilla” for children, ethnic music, dance, relaxation with bowls, social dances with swing music… and lots of shows in which fun and awareness go hand in hand.
Altea's ecological event for children and adults.
During the fair you can also attend a wide number of talks on subjects such as these ones from previous editions: “Health and Development: from a Local to a more Global Approach”, one on alternative economy entitled “Another Economy is Possible” or another called “Emotional Economy for All”.
There are some interesting workshops that are well worth mentioning. For example, one that teaches you how to graft fruit trees, or courses on learning how to listen, how to make yo-yos or rockets with air and water, or how to create bookmarks with recycled paper… An authentic alternative fair in which to enjoy yourself while you learn and get to know the possibilities that are open to us if we understand the world in a different way… see you there?
