Those who visit the peaceful town of Moraira in the month of August can enjoy live Jazz music while they follow a route that the local Department of Tourism has set up through the town's streets and its nooks and crannies, with the intention of livening up the warm summer evenings.

In actual fact, above and beyond its traditional summer sun and sand attractions, Moraira puts on a cultural programme that will allow you to enjoy the delights of the Mediterranean in an atmosphere brimming with music and colour. See you there?

Every Tuesday in August, Moraira swings to the rhythms and sounds of a musical happening that takes in different parts of the town centre. The Church square for example, or Sort Square, are just two of the places where you can enjoy an evening of live jazz concerts, some of which feature jazz fusion music, among other styles.

When the Voramar Street Jazz Festival gets under way, it is an unmissable treat for Jazz music fans. Its aim is to allow local inhabitants and tourists to enjoy various sessions of Jazz, Latin Jazz and Funk, presented by such well-known bands as Souljazzet, So de Mar, or local groups such as Amup Dixie Band. This particular band, an offshoot of the Association of Professional Musicians in Teulada, invites its audience to venture into the sounds of what is known as Jazz-hot: trombones, trumpets or clarinets take the lead in homage to the sounds of the early days of Jazz.

This is an initiative that will allow you to enjoy live music beside the sea, a refreshing way to spend a hot August night swaying to the sounds of bands such as Dixieband, a name that brings Trad Jazz to mind, and whose melodies will sweep the listener all the way back to the heart of New Orleans. To the sounds of horns, trombones, pianos, saxophones, drums or a banjo, the streets of Moraira turn into a stage filled of light, music and colour, with the Mediterranean as an amazing curtain raiser and the melancholic sounds of Jazz murmuring in the background.
