Having a beer, enjoying a tapa or buying a small gift beside the sea, is the idea behind the gastronomical and produce fair that Moraira organizes each year at the beginning of May.

And they couldn't have come up with a more marvellous setting for it, no other than the esplanade of Moraira Castle. More than fifteen stalls offering food and shopping opportunities, all decorated and dressed up to the nines for the occasion, together with myriad workshops and musical performances, including Batukadas, DJs or Flamenco, are the event's most magical ingredients.
Designed to promote and invigorate activity within the municipality, the participation of local shops and venues ensures a wide range of succulent dishes and products, not to mention the other activities and live music that they put on. A gastronomical, commercial and musical weekend that attracts hundreds of neighbours and tourists - last year's fair drew almost 13,500 visitors. It was such a success that the local mayor said it was a "very good idea", as it was an initiative that really boosted the real potential of local producers, with a full programme that undoubtedly encouraged people to get out of the house for a while.
Moraira's Gastronomical and Produce Fair is an event in which to try the region's typical produce -tapas, "montaditos" (small sandwiches), local wine, or dishes specially prepared for the occasion- and at the same time to discover its varied and by no means inconsiderable commercial offer. Throughout the three days of the fair, visitors can enjoy live street-concerts ranging from Latin and Funky music, to Jazz, Pop or Rock The fair also features activities and performances for the younger visitor, including a play centre for children where they can take part in different workshops.
Organized by the Association of Entrepreneurs and Tradespeople of Teulada-Moraira, this event has been held for the past five years, and, as far as those responsible for the fair are concerned, it plays a very important role in boosting the municipality's economic activity in the month of May and it also provides a rendezvous for local inhabitants and visitors in what is an incomparable setting. The esplanade of Moraira Castle turns into an authentic shop-window for local products.
