Old town of Teulada

A walled, Gothic town of narrow alleyways, stunningly beautiful and harmonious architecture, which today still recalls its Moorish past, a stroll along its streets taking visitors on a journey into the town's history.

The area, known locally as "La Vila", is the former walled settlement.

One pleasant stroll would begin at Plaza de la Constitución before following the town's alleyways, taking in the various ancient buildings of great beauty, harmony and regularity. Some of them date from the era after the Christian reconquest, and were extended in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Built in undressed stone and with the construction and design features typical of the Gothic period, this is the Historic Centre, declared a Cultural Heritage Site, and including the fortified Church of Santa Catalina, the Hermitage of the Divine Shepherdess, and the Sala de Jurats i Justicies (Courthouse).

Teulada also features a number of buildings belonging to the Baroque period, and a few examples of Modernism.
