An architecturally stunning space in the groundbreaking city of Valencia where visitors can participate, interact and above all enjoy unique experiences.
The Ciudad de las Artes is itself a spectacular sight. The modern images of the buildings which make up this imposing leisure and culture centre of outstanding beauty designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela is yet another of the attractions boasted by the city of Valencia.
A place where the sea and light of the Mediterranean blend in tones of blue and white, linking one modern, cutting-edge city to another with traditions dating back centuries. That is what each year draws millions of visitors to the Ciudad de las Artes, which has established itself as one of the leading cultural platforms both nationally and internationally.
Here visitors can enjoy a huge range of artistic, cultural and scientific offerings at its numerous leisure and culture venues with an astonishing capacity to entertain, educate and excite. One single complex dedicated to scientific and cultural presentation, comprising five major elements:
L'HEMISFÈRIC
This was the first building of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) to open its doors to the public. It is a spectacular construction designed by Santiago Calatrava in the form of a human eye measuring more than 100 metres in length, housing inside a projection hall in the form of a huge sphere.
MUSEO DE LAS CIENCIAS
The museum has become an international byword for interactive science and is one of the most popular attractions in the country, drawing in more than 27 million visitors since it opened in the year 2000. Its main aim is to encourage curiosity and a critical sense, in an attempt to surprise and entertain the public through content focusing on the world of science, technology and the environment.
OCEANOGRÁFICO
This is the largest aquarium in Europe, representing the planet's main marine ecosystems. Each building is dedicated to a different aquatic environment: Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans, Antarctic, Arctic, Islands and the Red Sea, along with the Dolphinarium. The underwater restaurant and the entrance building which welcomes visitors stand out for their spectacular roofs designed by Félix Candela.
PALACIO DE LAS ARTES
This contemporary, cutting-edge venue is equipped with the latest technology, making it a cultural powerhouse which provides the Valencia Region and its musical traditions dating back centuries with a privileged place on the world stage.
ÁGORA
The Ágora is a multifunctional venue intended for the staging of congresses, conventions, concerts and performances, which can also be transformed into an exhibition space. Over recent years the building has successfully hosted the staging of the Valencia Open 500 tennis tournaments, one of the city's major international sporting events.
UMBRACLE
A viewpoint of more than 17,500 square meters with an exhibition area from which you can see all the buildings, ponds, walkways and garden areas of the City of Arts and Sciences.
Valencia is light that caresses, flowers that intoxicate and love that is lived in every corner. It is a land that has known how to preserve its soul while advancing with a firm step towards the future. Visiting Valencia is much more than a trip; it is an experience that touches the heart, that makes you feel part of something bigger.
Because here, in the land of flowers, light and love, every moment becomes an indelible memory.
Labyrinthine, games of light and shadow, corners with mystery where vibrant color beats and its own, but above all, original frames of the Mediterranean.
Being one of the great mountains on the Costa Blanca, the Montgó Natural Park is emerging as one of the most special, since at its foot it includes not only the two charming towns of Jávea and Dénia, but, in its marine part, treasures the spectacular Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve.
