On the coastline of the beautiful and bohemian village of Altea, one of the loveliest on the Costa Blanca, stands this unique building, in an unrivalled natural setting flooded with light, alongside both sea and mountains.
Since 1995, Villa Gadea has brimmed over with history and culture as one of the premier meeting points for artists and musicians, and the venue of numerous cultural events.
Some years ago it was a prestigious International Music Centre which throughout the year staged a range of performances featuring dance, music and theatre.
It was likewise home to the intriguing permanent collection of "Instrumentos Musicales del Mundo" ("Musical Instruments of the World") assembled by Carlos Blanco Fado, now to be found at the Palau de Altea.
Today a part of the building serves as the Local Police Station, and it therefore does not host as many cultural events although it remains a point of interest, while the palatial house itself is an unmissable sightseeing attraction.
Very nearby, meanwhile, during the summer months there is a beach bar, "Arrecife", where visitors can enjoy a snack or dinner while revelling in the amazing panoramic coastal views, which are truly spectacular above all at sunset.
