Trophy Peñón of Ifach

Every year, the Royal Calpe Nautical Club celebrates a new edition of its much-anticipated Peñón de Ifach Trophy. These are highly contested trials that comprise voyages from Calpe to Formentera,

Date confirmed for the Autonomous Altitude Cruise Championship - 35th Peñón de Ifach Trophy 2024.

In which factors such as the force of the wind (which can reach up to 18 knots), heavy waves and the climatological conditions really put the skills of the ships' crews to the test. To be able to participate, by the way, ships can be no longer than 9 metres in length.
This trophy is contested each year at the beginning of June in Calpe, and has become quite a tradition among the high-speed sporting competitions that are held on the Costa Blanca; this year will be the 30th anniversary.

More than 25 years have gone by since the first edition, and today the Regatta organized by the Royal Nautical Club and the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation is firmly established as one of the most important events on the national cruise circuit: more than 70 ships have taken part in precious editions and almost 3000 sailing enthusiasts turn up to watch this much-awaited event.An impressive competition in which crews and ships compete for the coveted Peñón de Oro Trophy.

In the 2014 edition, the regatta held its 25th anniversary remembering how the competition was instituted by a group of friends who were all club members and sailing enthusiasts.
Ever since then, the ships have always taken to the waters of the Calpe Coast until nowadays this trial now counts for the FVCV's Autonomic Offshore Championship, and indeed for the RN Spanish Cup.
Leading lights such as RCNC's Manuel Gallego and his Itaca IX yacht are to the fore, with more than fifteen trophies to this name, since the competition began.

To commemorate the 25 years of the Competition, last year they put on an exhibition of water colours painted by one of the members of the Royal Nautical Club, Ramón Paredes, in which he depicted “25 years of regattas” through his art.
